Yusril: Prabowo Could Not Backward

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - The number 1 presidential candidate Prabowo resigned from all the 2014 presidential election, however, it turns out a step Prabowo violated election law.

According to the Constitutional Law Expert Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Prabowo can not simply withdraw from the 2014 presidential election Moreover, the stage has towards the end of the election.

"Prabowo can not resign from the Presidential election, is equally valid as someone who has run for the House of Representatives or the head of the region," said Yusril to Liputan6.com in Jakarta, Selas (22/07/2014).

Supposedly, he continued, when Prabowo objected to the Election Commission announced the results, it can use the legal system in the Constitutional Court (MK).

"If there are any objections matter should be submitted to the Court," said Yusril.

In the Law Number 42 Year 2008 concerning the election of the President and Vice President of Article 246 stated that, "Every candidate for President or Vice President who deliberately withdrew after the first round of voting until the implementation of the second round of voting, shall be punished with imprisonment of at least 36 (thirty six) months and a maximum of 72 (seventy-two) months and a fine of Rp 50,000,000,000.00 (fifty billion dollars) and the most widely Rp100.000.000.000,00 (one hundred billion dollars) ".
