Instagram Originally Priced U.S. $ 2 Billion ( Technology )



TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Facebook to raise eyebrows for buying Instagram for U.S. $ 1 billion (USD 9.1 trillion) last week. However, it turns out the price for it is the result of bargaining with the CEO Facebook Instagram, Kevin Systrom.

Systrom, president of the company by the number of employees are just as many as 13 people, apparently asking price of U.S. $ 2 trillion (USD 18.2 billion) for the purchase of Instagram.

The number was reported by the Wall Street Journal along with the moments of the negotiations between Systrom with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Zuck apparently immediately called Systrom on Thursday, April 5th, after he talks with Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg. Zuck said he wanted to buy a new company. He direct "hands down" for fear Systrom be rejected if through a lawyer as usual.

After informed Zuck, Systrom came from his home in San Francisco to the residence of Zuckerberg in Palo Alto three days later. Zuck had just told the board about this on 8 April.

There are two interesting things in this case. First, although Instagram has only 13 employees only and without income, Systrom know this project is very valuable for Facebook. Therefore, before Zuckerberg tried to buy the company last summer.

When calling Systrom a second time, it became clear Zuck Instagram attention to the development of rapid and threatening Facebook. Especially when it's already there Instagram millions of new users in just a few days after its launch in Android applications.

Second, as a controller of Facebook, Zuckerberg has a majority vote of the people of the world. With Instagram bought, he wanted to remain number one in the world of social media and will create long-term investment.
